2022 Lacrosse is Taking Shape
Members of your CWMLA executive team attended the OLA AGM in early November. With a number of new personnel at the table, we are going to see some significant changes to the organization. We trust that they are going to find exquisite candidates to replace the Executive and Technical Directors at the OLA office.
The season is starting to take shape.
Many of you will know about Toronto Rock's move from downtown Toronto to Hamilton. We hope that the closer drive will make professional games more accessible for our members. Jon Stiles Toronto Rock Senior Account Executive has already reached out, and we are looking to set up some in-game experiences for our players! Games start early December, are going to be broadcast on TSN, and you can check out the Rock Home schedule on the schedule page of their website.
Last night, our rebrand committee met to discuss the new logo and imaging brand. Pure excitement may best describe our committee members leaving that meeting! They are pumped to be able to reveal the new name, colours and brand to you, the members.
November 22 marks another important date for the CWMLA executive. Our strategic planning meeting will progress the tone set at our AGM. With new faces in place, 2022 will be our best season yet. Share your ideas for the upcoming season with [email protected] to make sure they are brought up at the strategy meeting.
In addition to planning the return to indoor box lacrosse in 2022, we will be looking to grow our spring field program. The move for club lacrosse from the OMFLL was for a single year and will be returning to the spring in 2022. There are many post-secondary opportunities for players who are able to play both box lacrosse and field lacrosse. We are excited to have representation from the University of Guelph at our strategy meeting to help us pump life into the spring field program at CW.
Just today, the Tournament Chair released the tournament application for 2022. It will be a pleasure to see the return of the Scott Gerrie tournament to CW next year. A major source of fundraising, this premier tournament has been a staple in the area for a number of years.
For those that have seen it, the OLA released a girls-only coaching clinic. So many young ladies had a fantastic experience last year in our girl's program with Abby and her crew. If you are interested in helping your daughter get into the sport but are intimidated by the experienced male players this may be a great opportunity for you to get into the game.
Finally, coaching applications will be released soon, make sure you watch the website so that you can be a part of the action in 2022!
