Week 1 Recap Heading into Week 2
Submitted By Nathan Joyes on Thursday, September 24, 2020
We hope everyone enjoyed their first week of March Break Lacrosse - The Week that Never Ended. It was a beautiful day to start our Return-to-Play program with some friendly competition.

Just last night we had a quick meeting to go over some minor adjustments to the program for this coming week. Our first week was great, but we wanted to make it better!

Week 2 will be held in Fergus at Victoria Park (150 Albert Street West) for all divisions. Guelph's junior paperweights will be back at Bishop Mac for 9 am to continue their skills and drills program. Please see the Arrival & Departure Procedures document.

As a reminder from that document, we would like to ask that the players do not show up to their
games until 15 minutes before game time. Players are to arrive on the field dressed with lacrosse bags
left in the vehicles, no bags on the field. Players and family members are to vacate the fields
immediately after completion of their program, this will limit congestion -- per public health guidelines.

Players are required to wear: helmets, gloves, & slash-guards. This is a non-contact game, and uppers
should not be required. However, please ensure that your player is dressed so that they feel safe on
the field.

We ask all participants, coaches and parents to remember that this is modified lacrosse developed to
adhere to the provincial government and public health guidelines so that we can return to play. It is
not the game we are used to seeing. The Game Rules have been adjusted to adhere to the aforementioned
guidelines, and it will take everyone a little time to adjust to.

In the spirit of good sportsmanship, we would like to remind everyone to keep the comments positive
and encouraging. In our new open environment, everyone can hear everything, and we don't want our
younger players to learn new words on the field.

We are thrilled at the opportunity to put this together to give everyone an opportunity at
Return-to-Play, it took a lot of work to get everything off the ground. With the provincial government
just last weekend reducing the number of people permitted in private gatherings, we need to be
vigilant in adherence to our policies and procedures to ensure that those restrictions do not expand to
organized recreational sport.

Schedules have been posted to the websites, please see the RTA tab at
www.guelphregalslacrosse.com or see https://www.cwmla.com/
Thank you for everyone's support, and we look forward to seeing everyone again for week 2.

Yours in Lacrosse,
GMLA and CWMLA Return-to-Play Subcommittee
